The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, Luke 4:18.
Deliverance actually means to “set someone free”. And this is one of the pillars of this commission, to set people free from all kinds of oppression through the preaching of the word of truth as revealed in the word of God.
Jesus said, “...If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. John 8:31-32.
It means that you are vulnerable to any oppression of the devil until the truth is revealed to you, your position in Christ notwithstanding. “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children. Hosea 4:6.
The practical teaching of God’s word is principal to the deliverance of the saints, and this ministry is committed to making disciples of all nations through this medium and reaching the world for Christ.
